Go Baby Go is a national, community-based program that promotes independence by providing modified power ride-on cars to children with disabilities. GCC became the first Go Baby Go program housed at a community college. In the subsequent years, our PTA students have modified many different vehicles, each for a specific child with unique physical and cognitive needs. The program has been a great success, serving our local community, free of charge.
The benefits of these cars include safe mobility, greater independence, socialization, and opportunities for inclusive play. There are no commercially available devices for children with mobility issues and powered wheelchairs may cost tens of thousands of dollars. The purchase of a vehicle, electronic adaptations, safety equipment, and modifications typically costs between $300 – $400 total per vehicle.
In order to continue providing this program free of charge, we are appealing to the community for financial support. 100% of your tax deductible donation is used for vehicle costs. All labor is donated by PTA students, PTA faculty, local PT and OT clinicians, and GCC staff.
